About Me

Designing With Passion While Exploring The World
Hi, I’m Shayla. For more than two decades, my world revolved around teaching and raising six kids. Now, as an empty nester and graduate student in Learning Design and Technologies, I’m weaving together everything I’ve learned—inside classrooms, through leadership roles, and out in the wider world.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: learning should be both human-centered and transformative. I design with empathy, lead with curiosity, and look for ways to create experiences that truly stick. Travel, writing, and exploration keep me inspired, reminding me that the best ideas often come from beyond the screen or classroom walls.
This blog is where I share that journey—working out loud, reflecting on what I’m learning, and shaping a professional identity that bridges passion, design, and impact.

I Create With Purpose
For me, learning design is about more than creative expression—it’s about building tools, systems, and experiences that actually help people learn. It’s art, yes, but it’s also structure, strategy, and impact.
Voices From My Journey
While I’m at the beginning of my formal journey into Learning Design & Technologies, these words from students, families, and colleagues reflect the strengths I bring into this new chapter.
